Celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month

Did you know that February is National Children’s Dental Health Month? Organized by American Dental Association and the ADA Foundation, the annual observance aims to promote good oral health habits to children, their parents, teachers and more.

The theme for this year’s Children’s Dental Health Month is “Sugar Wars”. Sugar plays a crucial role in tooth decay, but it’s possible to defeat its effects! National Children’s Dental Health Month 2016 focuses on the many ways kids can stop sugar in its tracks:

  • Brushing
  • Flossing
  • Rinsing
  • Eating healthy snacks

The American Dental Association and the ADA Foundation have created two posters to help teach children about the importance of good oral health. Read the descriptions below::

This year’s NCDHM campaign slogan “Sugar Wars” is displayed on both sides of the poster. The Smileys, McGrinns and K9 are in a spaceship, the USS SweetSwatter. It is equipped with toothbrush swatters, fighting against the Sweet Tooth Invaders for good oral health. On the reverse side, preteen/teenagers demonstrate effective ways to defeat the effects of sugar and maintain good oral health by brushing, flossing, rinsing and eating healthy snacks. These versatile posters will help speakers, teachers, and others to address a range of age groups.
