Who’s a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Are you a Candidate For Dental Implants?

No one who has missing teeth enjoys it. Eating and speaking normally are more difficult and it can make you feel less secure, reducing self-esteem and quality of life. Your facial structure, speech, and chewing mechanics can also diminish when you lose teeth.

To fix this problem, we offer dental implants. They are prosthetic teeth made of a ceramic crown that is attached to a titanium post. The post is surgically embedded into the jawbone.

Because the post is made of a biocompatible metal, it bonds with the jawbone to provide the stimulation it once had when the mouth had tooth roots that performed the same service.

This remedy has an incredible success rate, but it won’t work for everyone. How will you know if you qualify?

CONSULTATION WITH FREE 3D X-RAY

The first step is to set up a consultation with us where we provide a FREE 3D X-RAY analysis. We combine this information with your dental history and your medical history to determine what options are available to your particular set of circumstances. We will ask you what you don’t like about your smile and what you’d like changed. We’ll take as many factors as possible into consideration to determine what the best option is for you.

• Complimentary 3D X-ray to see if you are a candidate for dental implants

• Complimentary full mouth digital scan

Based off of these findings we can come up with a plan of action

Candidates for dental implants need to have adequate dental health and overall health. We will examine your gums, teeth, and jawbone, along with some other general health issues, to determine whether or not you qualify.

Health of the Jawbone

During the consultation your specialist at integratedDENTAL will examine your jawbone to see if it has enough bone mass to support the implants. You can expect us to take a 3D scan of your jawbone, a digital impression of your mouth, and digital pictures of your mouth and face. Acquiring this digital information allows us to thoroughly evaluate your entire mouth and personalize your treatment plan before beginning the procedure. If you don’t have enough bone mass you may need a bone graft, but we typically try to avoid additional surgeries by offering our integrated4 Solution to patients. Overall Health

Your overall health can affect your candidacy as well as how you’ll recover following surgery. We’ll need to know if you have any conditions or ailments such as diabetes or smoking history. We will also look at the list of medications you’re using. Medications that impede the anesthesia or the recovery period are potential roadblocks to candidacy.

Smoking can complicate the healing period, so we encourage our patients to quit or abstain for the period of the treatment.

AGE DOESN’T MATTER

While some patients express concern that they can’t receive implants because of their advanced age, this is actually not an impediment. Anyone can receive them as long as they meet other requirements.

Young age, however, is an impediment. We don’t usually perform implant procedures on teenage patients or those in their early 20s because the jaw is still growing at that age. Patients with missing teeth will need alternative forms of treatment if they’re at an age where their jaws are still developing.

The only way to find out if you qualify for dental implants is to come in for a consultation. We’ll work with you to help you make the right choice for your smile.
