Dental Exams and Cleanings
Adhering to a prescribed schedule for dental exams and cleanings is crucial for ensuring your dental health and overall well-being. Routine cleanings and exams help prevent gum disease, aid in monitoring your condition to allow for early intervention, and helps maintain previous dental treatment you’ve invested in.
The team at integratedDENTAL want to ensure your enjoy your smile for a lifetime. When you come in for routine check-ups and hygiene care, we will evaluate your oral health, complete an oral cancer screening, and review our findings with you in depth so you can make a decision as to what treatment options best fit you.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Reality is that very few people have perfect teeth. The majority of people have some fillings, and those fillings don’t last a lifetime. As a filling’s margins begin to wear away, bacteria enter the leaky filling resulting in recurrent decay under old restorations.
Unfortunately, defective old leaky fillings often don’t cause any pain or sensitivity, so patients are unaware of a problem until the tooth becomes symptomatic or fractures. By the time a tooth with recurrent decay becomes sensitive or fractures, more treatment (like a root canal) is required to restore it than if the leaky filling was addressed earlier. At the integratedDENTAL, we use digital x-rays and frequently evaluate old restorations to identify leaky and failing fillings early on so they can be replaced promptly. We replace old fillings only with cosmetic, durable tooth-colored materials so the result seamlessly matches your natural teeth- no more ugly silver fillings!
Using our CEREC Omnicam and TRIOS digital impressioning systems, ceramic inlays/onlays/crowns are custom designed and milled using revolutionary CAD/CAM technology to create a life-like, tooth-colored restoration of superior strength to replace tooth structure lost to cavities.
Most porcelain inlays/onlays/crowns can be completed by our team in a single treatment visit, eliminating the need for impressions, temporaries, and a return appointment to deliver the restoration.
All-ceramic crowns are the most life-like and aesthetic solution to restore decayed, broken, worn or chipped teeth. Always at the forefront of the most advanced dental technologies, integratedDENTAL is proud to have been the FIRST office in New York State to provide Sirona’s cutting-edge CEREC Omnicam technology and same-day crowns. We now also use the most-precise digital scanner, the TRIOS by 3Shape, to complete crowns in a single visit. With these state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technologies, Drs. Alan and Barbara Jurim are able to design and create custom fit all-ceramic crowns that are functional, strong, and natural looking all while you wait in the chair. Same day dentistry saves you time and money and allows you to avoid dental temporaries.
One of the biggest cosmetic complaints of denture wearers is the fake, plastic appearance of their teeth. Conventional dentures made by most dentists lack character and are easily spotted by others as having that ugly, undesirable “denture look”.
Dr. Barbara Jurim is a Prosthodontist who went to three additional years of postgraduate training to receive her specialty degree in Prosthodontics, the dental specialty dealing with the replacement of broken down and/or missing teeth. Dr. Barbara Jurim’s specialty training provides her with the unique skill set needed for fabricating natural, life-like, beautiful denture smiles. Understanding the importance of feeling confident about your smile, Dr. Jurim’s cosmetic dentures are made with special teeth that have multiple layers of colors and differing degrees of translucency to best mimic the appearance of natural teeth. These cosmetic teeth also display “perfect imperfections” and have slight shape variations which best reproduce the natural variations seen in a cosmetically pleasing smile.
The integrated4 Solution
A better solution than All-on-4™
Our team performs root canals using rotary endodontics, a new state-of-the-art instrumentation, to perform the root canal procedure allowing for better cleaning and shaping of your root canal faster and more complete. This technique also eliminates the “drilling” noise so the patient experience is much more pleasant.
Root canal therapy is necessary when a cavity or crack infiltrates into and infects the tooth’s nerve, causing discomfort and swelling in the area. The procedure removes the decayed tooth material and cleans out the root canal to prevent further damage and save your tooth. It should be noted that some teeth can be so severely decayed that even if they receive root canal therapy they cannot be saved. It is therefore necessary for a tooth’s restorability to be determined prior to initiation of root canal therapy. Additionally, a root canal treated tooth most commonly requires a post & core and crown to be fabricated in order to restore it to function.
In order to ensure your root canal experience is as pleasant as possible, Dr. Alan Jurim uses the most cutting-edge technology along with the option of sedation dentistry. Along with the same-day crown option, Dr. Jurim can painlessly and quickly complete the root canal and successfully restore your tooth to full function in just one simple visit!
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer is not a rare disease. In the U.S. alone, someone dies of oral cancer every hour of every day. The fastest growing segment of oral cancer patients is now people 25-50 years old who are mostly non-smokers. Therefore each and every integratedDental patient, not just smokers and those over the age of 50, receives a quick and painless oral cancer screening annually so you can rest assured that you are receiving the best health care currently available.
Historically, oral cancers were more likely to occur after the age of 50, and in tobacco users and people who consume heavy amounts of alcohol. However, the fastest growing segment of the oral cancer population is now people 25-50 years old who are mostly non-smokers. These patients represent a new disease pattern, specifically one due to a cancer-causing virus, HPV 16, the same virus responsible for the vast majority of cervical cancers. This virus is sexually transmitted between partners and accounts for the increase in oral cancer in young, non-smoking victims who do not fall into the historical tobacco risk factor group. Why this is so important is it demonstrates that each and every adult, not just those over the age of 50, should be screened for oral cancer.
Late discovery and diagnosis of oral cancer are major factors in the high death rates associated with this disease. The good news is that oral cancer can be found early in its development (stages one and two), through a simple, relatively inexpensive, completely painless, quick screening, resulting in survival rates closer to 80-90%.
The best way to make sure you stay healthy and are diagnosed early for this disease is by demanding your oral physician do a yearly oral cancer screening exam. In a painless, 3-5 minute long oral cancer screening, most of the signs and symptoms of oral cancer can be detected with the naked eyes or felt with the fingers.
At integratedDENTAL, we also offer the VELscope™ exam to our patients as an adjunctive screening tool to help identify and photograph cancerous and precancerous growths that may not be apparent to the naked eye under white light. A screening with the VELscope™ System is both quick and pain-free, and may allow for identification of cellular changes and abnormal growths before they become cancerous, increasing the oral cancer five-year survival rate to 80% or higher. Irregular tissues identified during a yearly oral cancer screening can then be easily biopsied for a definitive diagnosis.
Your overall health is the team at integratedDENTAL’s greatest concern, and with annual screenings along with the VELscope™ System you can rest assured that you are receiving the best health care currently available.
